I when I wrote the article “How to be Pro-Choice and Pro-Life at the Same Time” I was trying to collect all my thoughts and some things did get omitted. For those of you who made comments about those specific areas’s thank you for brining them to light. One concept that I did forget to address the concept of medical complications, in the case in which the mother's life is in danger or there is an imminent health risk to her I do believe that she should be allowed to choose to end the pregnancy. From what I understand of the human body it is made so that if there is a problem with a baby it is miscarried so as not to harm the mother. If a problem of such nature exists and there is no miscarriage, again leading to problems with the mother’s health or survival, then in that case she should be able to opt for a "medically assisted miscarriage".
Another right that I meant to include did deal with rape and that would be the right to give up a child for adoption. I am completely in favor of allowing women to put up children for adoption, no questions asked. I simply feel that regardless of the horrific nature of the act no good, psychological or physical, can come from killing your un-wanted child.
Another issue I did forget to mention was education. I believe that in this country the sexual education program is severely lacking and another right that I meant to include was the right to an unbiased and comprehensive sexual education program. It is my belief that if we give our school children the all of the information about sex including the risks of pregnancy and std’s and back that up with the statistics about various types of birth control effectiveness we will be in a far better place than we are now concerning teen pregnancy. Another element to this is parental involvement on the subject, all too often parents and teachers shun the issue of sex as taboo while television and movies show people going at it all over the place. The issue is not that media needs to be censored, because it is art and art involves the artist relaying a message or state of emotion, and by editing it you change the message and therefore the art. Rather than change the media equip our children with the facts they need to bring the sexual endeavors that they see in fictional media into a realistic light. If a child consistently sees people on tv running around killing people and none of them get into trouble then that child’s view point is being skewed unless they also understand that such things are not realistic.
I probably have forgotten to address some other concerns at this point which I will try to address in the comments sections of these two posts, however if there are enough I will simply add another addendum.

For those who mentioned the option of abortion if a woman was raped, what are the conditions on that? Who is to say that she doesn't lie about it? Does it require a court conviction? In most cases, getting a conviction for rape can take years, much longer than a pregnancy lasts. While it would be horrible to have a baby that came from a rape, I still don't think there is a good way to legalize abortion only for rape. If the mother does not want the baby, adoption is the only viable choice.
If a woman is raped, why should she have to go through the pain of being raped, and then another 9 months of carrying a child that she doesn't want? Why should the woman have to suffer?
I do agree that there should be better sex ed in this nation. It's ignorant to assume that teens don't know about it just because they haven't learned it in school. I would personally rather have sex ed that tells students how to protect themselves rather than just turn a blind eye and tell them "don't" without a real reason.
I also think that the pill, among other things, should be easier to obtain. I think that if more women could gain access to birth control and if they knew how to use it properly that there would be fewer unwanted children.
I don't know if they do this, and if they don't, I think it would be a good idea: do they give women who come in because they've been raped (let's just assume that they're telling the truth) the morning after pill? If they do, then that whole first paragraph of mine up there is mute. But if they don't, wouldn't that make it so there wouldn't have to be abortions for rape victims? Just a thought.
The morning after pill is a form of abortion. It is destorying something that has already been created. If you are truly against abortion, then you should be against morning after pill, which destroys life the same as abortion, just a little bit earlier in the process.
from my understanding, and im not sure if this is correct, the morning after pill delivers a high dose of normal birth control so that an egg cannot be fertilized, if this is the case i stand behind the statement i made in my prior post of allowing the use of a "high dose morning after oral contraceptive" (morning after pill). However in the case that this pill serves to destroy an already fertilized egg i would be against it.
This is a very touchy subject and I salute you for being brave enough to approach and standing up for what you believe in when people try to shoot you down.
There is one thing that I need to bring up. I can't tell what gender each of you are but I really think that this is a female issue. I'm not saying that men have no say in it whatsoever, but women are the ones most affected by it as they are about to have a living thing grow inside them. I agree with you on the part of letting women choose up to the point where their choices infringe on the baby's right to live. It seems like some people think that abortion is a first resort instead of a last resort. I don't think that we should fully outlaw it but there should be a board that reviews cases like these. That way, if a woman just doesn't want to have a baby right now and didn't feel like using a condom the month before when she had sex, she won't be allowed to have an abortion.
